Steve Cohen, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee's 9th district since 2007, has been vocal on various issues through his social media presence. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and an alumnus of Vanderbilt University and the University of Memphis, Cohen often addresses national policies and political decisions.

On January 24, 2025, Cohen expressed his views on public spending priorities via Twitter. He stated that "Tax dollars should prioritize real benefits for real people—like high-speed rail connecting #Memphis to #Atlanta, #Nashville & other cities. Not sending Elon’s or any other billionaire’s rockets to Mars." His tweet emphasizes the importance of investing public funds in infrastructure projects that benefit the general population rather than space exploration ventures.

On January 27, 2025, Cohen criticized former President Donald Trump's pardoning decisions in another tweet. He remarked that "Trump pardoned 23 violent criminals who harassed, assaulted, and terrorized abortion clinic staff and patients." He further commented on the implications of these actions by stating that it is "pro-violence and anti-women," suggesting that such acts encourage extremism under certain ideological alignments.

Later on January 27, 2025, Cohen addressed concerns regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s potential leadership role at Health and Human Services (HHS). As a polio survivor himself, he urged senators to vote against RFK Jr., citing his anti-vaccine stance as a contributing factor to a measles outbreak in Samoa. In his words: "He’s not fit to protect the health of our children or any of us."
