Rhodes College Exciting Weekend for Rhodes' Tennis Fall Invitational

Rhodes hosted Division 2 in-town rival Christian Brothers University and NAIA Blue Mountain College this past weekend for some flighted singles match play and 16-team doubles tournament. Each court was competitive, and the Lynx went 11-8 overall in singles on Saturday, and 8-7 overall in doubles on Sunday.

Singles play was highlighted by senior Daniel Trudell (A Flight) getting two wins over BMC's Yordanov and Huauya, senior David Phillips (Flight 3) getting two wins over CBU's Moreira and BMC's Schon, freshman Oliver Bonovich (B Flight) getting two wins over CBU's Flores and Gomez, and freshman Paul Fridman (C Flight) getting two wins over CBU's Zavala and Sandoz.

Doubles play was highlighted by Trudell and junior Gabe Williams going 3-0 with wins over CBU's Zavala/Moreira, BMC's Lopez/Inga, and CBU's Sandoz/Ycaza to make the finals (not played). Bonovich partnered with sophomore Owen Kohler to win their first round match against CBU's Gomez/Andrade and Phillips partnered with freshman Christian Mainella to also win their first round match against CBU's Macute/Villacis. Fridman partnered with fellow freshman Cole McNair and bounced back after their losing their first round to BMC's Lopez/Inga to pickup two wins over CBU's Zavala/Moreira and then teammates junior Joseph Haynes and freshman Hunter Johnson.

The Lynx will return to the courts again September 30th at the ITA South Regional Championships hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan.
