WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today spoke in favor of his constitutional amendments – offered under both Republican and Democratic presidents --  that would prevent the President from pardoning himself or herself, family members, current or former members of an administration, paid campaign employees, and others for an offense involving a direct financial interest or whose offense was at the direction of or in coordination with a president.

Congressman Cohen also noted that President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, was in charge of pardon coordination in the closing days of the administration and called for depoliticizing the process.
