The Lynx put together an amazing all-around effort today in their win vs the Washington University Bears, who came into the game with a 10-game win streak.
Senior Nick Ferazzi took the mound looking to improve on a 4-0 start to his season and did just that. Ferazzi chucked 6 quality innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while punching out 6.
The Lynx offense, led by Peter York's 4-hit afternoon, put up 1 in the second and 1 in the third. In the sixth inning with two outs, sophomore Ben Burkhart came through with a massive two-run double, taking the lead back from the Bears, who had scored 2 in the top of the inning. The Lynx picked up another crucial run in the sixth as John McNair scored on a passed ball.
Fifth-year Andy Hanaway pitched an excellent 1 ⅓ innings in relief of Ferazzi.
After a late rally, sophomore Noah Roland came out of the pen and shut down the Bears in the eighth, and again in a high-pressure ninth inning, sealing the W for the Lynx.
