Anahi Davalos awarded Civics Scholarship

Cordova, Tenn. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Briarcrest Christian School student Anahi Davalos.

FFROA, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is committed to educating the next generation of Americans about our nation’s founding principles and how they should continue to serve as the foundation for our future.

Davalos will graduate from high school this spring, and she intends to pursue a degree in Journalism or Communications.

"I have lived in Ecuador my entire life and when I moved here, I learned that there was a great divide between republicans and democrats. I even found myself leaning towards democratic ideologies but through this lesson," said Davalos. " I was able to see how logically, the preservation of the constitution is essential to American freedom."

The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the scholarship program.

“For the future of the country,” Altenberger said, “each generation must learn the true history and founding principles of the United States and why they are important and worthy of respect. As Ronald Reagan said, ‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children, our children’s children what it was once like to live in the United States where men were free.’”

“These students are better equipped to be our nation’s next generation of leaders now that they’ve been exposed to the values that founded this country centuries ago.”

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, students must have completed the “Constitution 101” and “Introduction to the Constitution” FREE online courses through Hillsdale College.
