U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has released a new episode of her series, 'Unmuted with Marsha,' focusing on Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the SALONS Stories Act. In this episode, she converses with Susanne Post, a Tennessee salon owner and co-founder of Shear Haven, about her personal experiences and the significance of the proposed legislation.

The SALONS Stories Act, introduced by Senator Blackburn alongside Senator Duckworth last December, aims to encourage states to offer domestic violence awareness training for beauty professionals. According to Blackburn, "This is important because it allows training that is done by a nonprofit for all of our estheticians and barbers and beauticians." She notes that Tennessee and Illinois have already implemented such training programs.

Susanne Post shares her journey as a survivor of domestic violence, emphasizing the critical role that trained individuals played in her life. "I know firsthand how isolating it is to be in an abusive relationship," she states. Post highlights the importance of having trusted individuals who are educated about the signs of domestic violence.

For those seeking assistance, the national domestic violence hotline number is 800-799-SAFE (7233). Additionally, Shear Haven offers a free 20-minute training session available at Shearhaventraining.org.
