U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) released a statement in response to Instagram's announcement of new child safety changes, which came ahead of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's markup of the Kids Online Safety Act.

"If anyone needed further proof that Big Tech has no interest in actually protecting our children, the timing of Instagram’s announcement on the eve of a House markup of the Kids Online Safety Act is it," stated Senator Blackburn. "Just like clockwork, the Kids Online Safety Act moves forward and industry comes out with a new set of self-enforcing guidelines. We applaud Chairwoman McMorris-Rogers for moving forward with the Kids Online Safety Act and thank her and her staff for their hard work on this legislation, along with Representatives Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.), Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) and Erin Houchin (R-Ind.)."
