Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Come up Just Short at UT Martin

UT Martin scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 2-0 win over the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Wednesday afternoon, at Bettye Giles Field. 


FINAL: UTM  2 (7-11) CBU 0 (6-16)  


GAME CHANGER:

A double by Kaci Fuller broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth and proved to be the game-winning runs.  


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • UTM had a 6-2 advantage in hits. 
  • Memory Willingham and Kate Candies had the hits for CBU. A double by Willingham was the lone extra base hit for CBU. 
  • Starting pitcher Mackenzie Kliebert allowed just two hits in three innings of work.
KEY PLAYS:

The Skyhawks took advantage of a pair of CBU miscues to load the bases, with one out, in the second, but Kliebert. was able to get out of the jam. 

Willingham smacked a one out double in the fourth, but was left stranded. 

In the sixth, a two out walk, followed by a single set Fuller up to drive in the game winning runs.
