Delta State used an eight-run fifth inning to defeat the Christian Brothers University baseball team 12-1 (7), on Friday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field. 

FINAL SCORE: DSU 12 (8-10, 3-4 GSC) CBU 1 (9-12, 2-8 GSC) (7)


GAME CHANGER:

The Statesmen sent 13 batters to the plate in the fifth, scoring eight runs on six hits. 


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • The Bucs were outhit 16-5.
  • Five different Bucs had hits. 
  • Charlie Faoro (2B) had the lone extra-base hit for the Bucs. 
  • Nick Stamper drove in the run for CBU. 

KEY PLAYS:

The Statesmen opened the scoring with a double steal in the second. 

Stamper tied the game at one with an RBI single in the fourth. 

DSU took control of the contest with eight runs in the fifth.

The Statesmen added three runs in the sixth to finish the scoring.
