Senior forward Alexys Mathangani (Tampa, FL) scored 10 of her game high 25 points in the fourth quarter, to lead Rhodes to a 61-52 SAA Women's Championship win over top seeded Centre College in Danville, KY on Sunday February, 26th.
The SAA tournament title was the third straight for Lynx head coach Rodney Rogan as Rhodes won their fourth SAA title in five years. In the 11 years of SAA Women's Basketball Tournament play, Rhodes has now won 7 SAA titles.
The Lynx used a crucial 15-2 run in the 4th period to erase a 40-38 Colonels lead and take a 54-43 lead with 1:34 to play and secured the Lynx win.
Rhodes dominated the glass outrebounding Centre 41-34. Lynx senior center Taya Lee (Brentwood, TN) had 12 rebounds and first year forward Giana Vlahakos (Houston, TX) had a double-double off the bench, scoring 10 points and grabbed a team high 14 rebounds.
Lynx freshman guard Avery Marsh (Little Rock, AR) added 12 points and was also named to the SAA All-Tournament team.  Mathangani was named Most Valuable Tournament Player and Vlahakos was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Rhodes now advances to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament for the 6th time in school history.
