Christian Brothers University baseball player Ben Brocato has been named Division II South Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the week ending Feb. 12. 

Brocato was also named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week after finishing the week 9-for-18 at the plate (.500). The Memphis native  also had five doubles, two home runs, eight RBIs and seven runs. In the win over Drury, on Sunday, Feb. 12, Brocato was 3-6 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs. 

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
