The LOC baseball team opened their season on the road vs. Edward Waters University, a team that was crowned division 2 HBCU baseball national champs one season ago.

In the first game the Magicians loss 3-2 in a game that they feel like they let get away. Coming off a season where the team won just 4 games, their performance this past weekend gave them confidence that they can play with anyone in the league.

In the second game of the series the Magicians were outscored 24-1 and just could never get things going. The 24 runs they gave up,  we're the most the Magicians had given up in their past 5 games, dating back to last season.

The third and final game was very competitive, with the Magicians losing 15-12. The team went on a 10-5 run over the course of the final few inning of the game and gave their opponents all they could handle.

The Magicians combined for 22 hits over the course of the series with 15 RBI. Steven Huggins stood out for the Magicians producing 4 hits in 11 at bats and hitting his first home run of the season. Huggins scored three runs in the series.

On the mound it was Austin Lampley, Gabriel Fuentes and Huggins who fall to 0-1 this season.  Although the three pitchers  didn't get the wins they were searching for,  they all can build off this past weekend's performance. "We were a little banged up after that first game, but our effort was their, Justin Williams was awesome in the outfield and we got big contributions from a lot of guys", said Magicians head Coach Johnny Rudd.

The Magicians will take the field again February 24th on the road at Benedict College.  The game is scheduled for 1:00PM.
