Mississippi College outscored the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team 39-26 in the second half to earn a 65-53 win, on Thursday night, at A.E. Wood Coliseum. With his 11 points, Nick Deifel joined the 1,000 point club. The Cincinnati, Ohio native has reached the prestigious club in just 91 career games.   • The hosts hit seven of their first 12 shots to take a 15-14 lead at the midway point of the first half. 
  • CBU hit five of its last six shots to take a 27-26 lead at the break. 
  • MC started the second half hot, going 9-16 from the floor, to take a 50-42 lead with 10:03 left in the contest.  
  • A three pointer gave MC a 60-49 lead with 5:04 left. 
  • The Choctaws held the Bucs to just four points the rest of the way to help earn the win. 
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES 

  • MC pulled away using a 57 percent (16-28) shooting effort in the second half. 
  • The Bucs shot 46 percent in both halves. 
  • CBU outrebounded the hosts 30-23. 
  • Nick Deifel led the Bucs with 11 points. 
  • Luke Gdowski and Slate Garmany led CBU with seven rebounds apiece. Playing against his former team, the seven rebounds are a career-high for Garmany. 
  • Darell Johnson (11) and Daniel Loos (10) rounded out the double-figure scorers for CBU. Johnson also added seven boards.
