Rhodes College Men's Hoops Secure SAA Win Over BSC

Rhodes Men's Basketball returned to their winning ways with a gritty win in their SAA matchup against BSC in the annual Fight for Literacy game! The win gives the Lynx their 2nd conference win of the season and improves their overall record to 9-4. 

The 1st half set the groundwork for what would be a highly competitive game until the final buzzer. It saw 4 ties and 6 lead changes. The Panthers took control of the lead with 3:23 to go in the half and would hold that lead heading into the 2nd half. The Lynx defense, 1st in the SAA, continued to make things difficult for the Panthers despite their lead. They forced 7 turnovers, had 3 blocks, and held the Panthers to 40% shooting for the half. The Lynx were also able to keep themselves within striking distance by winning the rebounding battle 26-16, which led to 14 second chance points. Jalen Essick, Arness Georgetown II, Jefferson Walker, and Koki Wiley all led the way for the Lynx on the offensive end in the half with 6 points each. 

The 2nd half was more closely contested than the 1st with 11 ties and 15 lead changes. The Lynx defense continued to put pressure on the Panthers, and held them to under 40% shooting in the half. They forced 11 2nd half turnovers, which led to 23 points. Phil Dotson was massive in the half for the Lynx. He had 15 points off the bench in the 2nd, and finished the game with 18. He also secured the win at the free throw line with under 10 seconds to go. Koki Wiley also had a big half for the Lynx with 10 points. He finished the game with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Wiley was also perfect from the free throw line (12-12). Jefferson Walker added 8 2nd half points and finished the game with 14. Cass Ramberg gave the Lynx some big minutes off the bench, and helped lock down the paint in some key moments. By the final buzzer, the Lynx won 82-74.
