The University of Memphis Dominates MLK Invitational | The University of Memphis
Memphis men's tennis got its spring season under way over the weekend with a dominant showing at the MLK Invitational, combining to go 31-5 across three days in duel matches with Yale, Vanderbilt and Charlotte.
The Tigers opened the preseason weekend 11-1 against the host Bulldogs, winning all four doubles and seven of their eight singles matchups.
On day two, Memphis defeated the in-state Commodores 10-2. Vandy won its only two points on the first two courts in doubles, while the Tigers took the other two doubles and all eight singles.
Memphis wrapped up its strong weekend with another 10-2 showing against the 49ers, The Tigers won three of their four doubles and seven of the eight singles. The only loss came after a retirement.
In total, the Tigers finished 9-3 in doubles and 22-2 in singles.

The Tigers will officially open their spring regular season Friday at Duke before traveling to Los Angeles Jan. 28-29 to battle UCLA, USC and Vanderbilt in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
