The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 61-51 win over Shorter, in Gulf South Conference action, on Saturday afternoon, at Canale Arena. CBU held the Hawks to 35 percent shooting, in the first half, and scored 28 points off 26 Shorter miscues.   • A Charlie Champagne three pointer gave the Bucs a 19-8 lead with 9:33 left in the first half. 
  • Shorter outscored the Bucs 14-9 the rest of the way to cut CBU lead to 28-22 at halftime. 
  • CBU held the visitors to just 35 percent shooting in the first half (9-26), including 2-10 from three point range. 
  • Shorter opened the second half 4-5 from the floor to take a 31-28 lead with 16:26 left. 
  • CBU used an 8-0 run to give it a 36-31 advantage with 9:10 remaining. 
  • After Shorter cut the lead to 36-35, CBU responded with a 19-6 spurt to take a 55-41 lead with less than 2:30 remaining. 
  • The visitors were unable to get within single digits for the remainder of the contest. .
