For the fourth time this season, Memphis Tiger Kendric Davis has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday morning. It marks the ninth AAC weekly honor of his career.
 
Davis is the first player in conference history to earn the award four times in the span of six weeks, and no other player in the league has more than one Player of the Week nod this season.
 
The fifth-year point guard averaged a league best 27.5 points and 8.0 assists to go along with 4.0 steals and 4.0 rebounds per game in a split week to open AAC play. He finished 13-of-29 (44.8%) from the floor, 5-of-12 from deep (41.7%) and converted on 24-of-29 (82.8%) trips to the free throw line.
 
In Thursday's conference opener at home against South Florida, Davis dropped 24 points with nine assists and five steals, while going 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. He spearheaded a comeback for the Tigers with two big steals in the final minutes to help secure the win for Memphis after trailing by 10 with seven minutes to play.
 
Sunday evening in New Orleans against Tulane, the Houston, Texas native poured in a season high 31 points with seven assists, six rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes, and finished 14-of-17 at the line.
 
Memphis is back in action Saturday when East Carolina comes to town for a 1 p.m. showdown inside FedExForum on ESPN+.
