Christian Brothers University Valdosta State Pulls Away From Lady Bucs

Valdosta State outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 48-20, over the second and third quarters, in a 79-61 win, on Tuesday night, at The Complex. 


CBU led the game 24-16 after the first quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A Selena Pruitt layup gave the Lady Bucs a 12-11 lead at the midway point of the first quarter. Pruitt had eight of the first 12 CBU points. 
  • The Lady Bucs hit nine of their 16 shots, and used a 12-2 run to take a 24-16 lead to the second quarter. 
  • VSU responded with a big second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bucs 18-4, to take a 34-28 lead into halftime. 
  • The Lady Bucs were held to just 2-8 shooting in the second quarter. 
  • The teams combined for 24 first half turnovers (CBU 13, VSU 11). 
  • VSU shot a scoring 9-12, outscoring the Lady Bucs 30-16, to take a 64-44 lead into the fourth quarter. 
  • CBU outscored the hosts 17-15 in the final quarter to finish the scoring.  
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES

  • CBU was 16-31 shooting in the first and fourth quarters, but just 7-22 in the second and third. The Lady Bucs finished the game 43 percent from the floor. 
  • VSU finished the contest 50 percent from the floor (30-60).
  • The 61 points marked the second-highest total of the season allowed by VSU. 
  • The Lady Blazers won the rebounding battle 39-29. 
  • Yaya Coleman led the Lady Bucs with 14 points and six rebounds. 
  • Emily Jones chipped in 13 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Jeremia Montgomery added 11 points and five boards.
