Rhodes College Men's Basketball Win 6th Straight and Secure Best Start in 20 Years

Men's Basketball won their 6th straight game and secured their best start (6-1) to a season in 20 years after a dominant victory over the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday afternoon in the Rhodes Classic finale!

The first half was powered by the Lynx defense. The Tigers failed to cross into double-digits until 8 min to go in the first half. The Lynx defense, as it has all season, smothered the Tigers from the jump. The Lynx had 5 steals within the first 6 min of the game, 3 of them credited to Zavien Williams who continues to build his case for best defender in the SAA. Freshman Phil Dotson continued to showcase his potential for the Lynx by leading all first half scorers with 11pts. Seniors Jalen Essick and Jefferson Walker weren't far behind with 7pts and 9pts. Arness Georgetown II, +/- guru for the Lynx, got in on the scoring with 6pts of his own. Coach Zo has been beating the defensive drum all season and his squad certainly answered the call this half. They forced 17 turnovers, including 9 steals, and added 4 blocks. The Lynx headed into the break wit a 43-25 lead.

The 2nd half was more competitive than the 1st, but after early foul trouble, the Lynx retook control. Dotson continued his offensive explosion in the 2nd half and ended the game leading all scorers with 25 pts (9-16 FG, 4-7 3pt). The Lynx were able to increase their lead to 22 despite the foul trouble of the 2nd half. Senior Koki Wiley continued to crash the glass and make high IQ plays for the Lynx. He finished the game with 7pts and 10 rebounds. By the final buzzer, the Lynx defense forced 23 turnovers, including 12 steals. 5 Lynx finished the game in double-digit scoring, showcasing the multifaceted attack the team has. Jefferson Walker and Jonathan Prange each had 11, Williams and Essick had 10 each, and Dotson had 25. The Lynx led for the entire game and at the final buzzer the score was 89-68.
