Christian Brothers University No. 4 Union Uses Big Fourth Quarter to Edge out Lady Bucs

No. 4 Union outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 12-3, in the fourth quarter, to earn a 63-53 victory, on Friday evening, at Canale Arena. The Lady Bucs led the contest 21-14 after the first quarter, and 34-33 at halftime. 


CBU held Union to its lowest point total of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  •  Union held a slim 8-6 lead at the midway point of the first quarter. 
  • CBU went on a 15-6 run to take a 21-14 lead after the opening 10 minutes. 
  • The Bulldogs took a brief 27-25 lead, but CBU bounced back to take a 34-33 lead at the half. 
  • CBU finished the first half 15-26 from the floor, while Union was 13-35. 
  • Union used a 12-0 run to take a 45-34 lead at the 6:44 mark in the third quarter. 
  • CBU bounced back to trim the deficit to 51-50 going into the final quarter. 
  • Union held the Lady Bucs to just 1-8 shooting, in the fourth quarter, to help it earn the win. 
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES

  • CBU finished 23-47 from the floor (49 percent), but were just 1-10 from three point range. 
  • Union managed just 38 percent shooting (24-63), but capitalized on 23 CBU turnovers. 
  • The Bulldogs finished the contest with 13 steals. 
  • Selena Pruitt led CBU with a game-high 19 points. Yaya Coleman added 13 points for CBU. 
UP NEXT

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Dec., 11 when they travel to West Florida. Tipoff is set for 2 PM CT.
