The LOC men's basketball team was 1 of 8 teams selected to participate in the inaugural HBCU All-Stars Challenge. The challenge was hosted at Forbes Arena on the Morehouse College campus. Other schools represented in the challenge included Morehouse College, Virginia Union, Tuskegee, Livingstone, Shaw University, Albany State, and Fayetteville State.
LOC vs. Shaw University
On day one of the showcase the Magicians fell 70-78 to Shaw University.
The Magicians trailed for a majority of the game and came within one point of the lead after Jabez Sims was fouled on a layup with just under four minutes to play. Over the course of the next 3:58 seconds they would be outscored 8-2.
The Magicians were led in scoring by Gjerard Wilson and Micah Evans with 14 points each. Also in double figures for the Magicians was forward Sam Ibeh (13) and guard Tariq Shepherd (10).
LOC vs. Virginia Union
On day two the Magicians went head to head with Virginia Union University.
The team trailed by as many as 16 points before taking the lead 59-56, on a 3 point basket from Andrew Anderson with 4:14 seconds left to play in the ball game. With 16 seconds remaining sophomore guard Tariq Shepherd was fouled in the double bonus, and would sink both free-throws giving the Magicians a 66-62 win. Shepherd led all scorers with 20 points, to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assist. Senior guard Andrew Anderson also scored in double figures for the Magicians (10).
