Los Lynx bounced back after their 1st loss of the season Friday night with a hard-fought 83-72 win over the Fontbonne University Griffins in the final game of the Rhodes Thanksgiving Classic! The game was exciting until the final minutes and included 11 ties and 18 lead changes.
The Lynx trailed 19-17 after a hard-fought 1st quarter, but were able to regain the lead in the 2nd after some hot shooting from Mackenize McKown. The teams went back and forth throughout the 2nd, but a 9-3 run, sparked by Catherine Althoff, from the Lynx would give them a 41-36 lead heading into the break.The Griffins chipped away in the 3rd and briefly took the lead before Althoff helped the Lynx regain the lead in the final seconds of the quarter. The Lynx would go on to control the entire 4th quarter, closing the game on a 15-5 run. The win gave the Lynx their first home win of the season and improved their record to 3-1. Rhodes looks to continue the hot start to their season this Sunday, Nov 27 at 1pm, in Mallory Gymnasium vs University of Dallas at Texas.Catherine Althoff was magnificent in the game finishing with a double-double (29 pts, 11 reb).
