Memphis (16-8,6-5) fell to SMU(16-7,9-2)) for the second time this season. SMU defeated the Tigers in three sets (25-20,25-23,25-22).
Memphis held the Mustangs to their fifth lowest hitting percentage this season (.210) including .188 in the first set. Two 5-0 runs by SMU in the first was the difference maker, giving them the set and 1-0 lead.
In the second set, Memphis went on a 7-1 streak to go up 11-6 on the Mustangs. Following the media timeout SMU outplayed Memphis and finished the set on a 6-2 scoring run.
Memphis continued to keep it close during the third set but the Mustangs attack was too much for the Tigers who fell 3-0 to SMU.
