An exciting final day of the Southern Athletic Association regular season resulted in Rhodes Men's Soccer earning SAA Conference Regular Season Champion honors!
Rhodes (4-0-3) finished the regular season with 15 points in the standings and the 2022 SAA title. The championship is a first for the Lynx, led by Head Coach Matt Lamb and Assistant Coach Thomas Kirk.
Rhodes tied for fourth in the SAA preseason poll and finished the conference season unbeaten, posting a 4-0-3 record in league play and 8-1-6 mark overall. Bolstered by one of the nation's stingiest defenses, the Lynx went 4-0-3 in the early season. Next came a 9-0 win over Mississippi University for Women and SAA shutouts of BSC, Centre, and Sewanee. Rhodes closed the year with a 1-1 tie at Berry and scoreless draws against Oglethorpe and Hendrix. The winner of the SAA Tournament earns the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
Rhodes will be the tournament's top seed by way of a 1-0 head-to-head win over Sewanee during the regular season.
The Lynx are set to host eight-seed Millsaps in the quarterfinals while two-seed Sewanee welcomes seven-seed Centre in its quarterfinal. Three-seed Hendrix drew a home game with six-seed Birmingham-Southern and four-seed Berry hosts five-seed Oglethorpe in the quarters.
The highest remaining seed will host the semifinals on November 4 and championship match on November 6.
