Memphis Tiger head baseball coach Kerrick Jackson has announced longtime college baseball head coach and pitching savant Tim Jamieson is joining the program as pitching coach.

 Jamieson, who was the head coach at Missouri for 22 seasons from 1995-2016, developed some of the nation's best pitchers during his tenure, most notably future Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Max Scherzer. In all, he saw 75 players drafted, including four first rounders, and 15 of his players made the Major Leagues. Jamieson won 698 games and made nine NCAA Tournaments while at Missouri, with Jackson alongside as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2011-15.

 "We are very fortunate to have Coach J. as a member of our coaching staff here at the University of Memphis," Jackson said. "He has been an integral part of my development as a coach, but more importantly as a man. His ability to teach the fundamental aspect of the game is second to none and provides a solid foundation for players with elite-level ability. In addition, he will provide great insight to our pitching staff, which will be crucial for continued staff growth and development. In order for our program to compete on a national level we must have an elite pitching staff, and I have every confidence that Coach J. will put us in that position."

"He has high standards for success both on and off the field and more importantly for everyone in the program. He believes in personal as well as baseball development, and I've always shared those beliefs throughout my career. Memphis is a great fit for me personally, and I look forward to the everyday competition, relationships and the journey that's about to begin."

 Most recently, Jamieson served as pitching coach at Southern Illinois for three seasons from 2020-22. During his tenure, the Salukis went 96-42 with two 40-win seasons, and Jamieson's pitching staff led the Missouri Valley Conference in ERA in 2022 and finished second in 2021.

 Jamieson was a two-time Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year and guided eight players to All-America honors and 10 players to freshman All-America honors during his time at Missouri. From 2003-09, Jamieson took Missouri to seven-straight NCAA Tournaments, and in 2006, he guided the Tigers to a regional championship and an appearance in the NCAA Super Regionals.

 Jamieson's Missouri teams won 35 games or more nine times. He was also the head coach of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in 2011.

 Prior to being named head coach at Missouri, Jamieson was an assistant for the program from 1989-94. Jamieson's first coaching job was an assistant position at his alma mater, New Orleans, from 1983-88. The Columbia, Mo., native received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from New Orleans, where he was a member of three NCAA Tournament clubs as a standout catcher for the Privateers.

MLB Players Developed by Jamieson

• Max Scherzer was the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2005 at Missouri and has won three Cy Young Awards in his MLB career
• Ian Kinsler helped the Tigers to the 2003 NCAA Tournament before playing 14 MLB seasons (2006-19), where he was a four-time All-Star and won two Gold Gloves
• Tanner Houck was a first-round MLB draft pick in 2017 and has played three seasons with the Boston Red Sox
• Kyle Gibson was the 22nd overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft and is a 10-year MLB veteran
• Aaron Crow was undrafted out of high school and developed into a first-team All-American at Missouri who won the Clemens Award, honoring the nation's top pitcher. Crow became a first-round MLB Draft pick in 2009 and an MLB All-Star in 2011
• Rob Zastryzny was a second-team All-American at Missouri and made the big leagues with the Chicago Cubs
