003e

Linda Bonnin, senior vice president for marketing and strategic communications at Abilene Christian University, has been named vice president for marketing and communications at Rhodes College. She will assume the role on July 5, after President-elect Jennifer Collins takes office.

Bonnin will head the college’s newly formed Division of Marketing and Communications and serve on the Senior Leadership Team, providing high-level strategic direction to advance the visibility and reputation of the Rhodes brand and to achieve the college’s strategic objectives. In addition, she will oversee the college’s integrated marketing and communications program, including crisis communications, digital communications, print, video, news, advertising, and social media, to align with the college’s vision and strategic objectives.

Bonnin has more than 25 years of higher education experience and is the recipient of more than 100 advertising, marketing, and communications awards from professional associations. While at The University of Alabama, she created the branding campaign “Where Legends Are Made,” which was named the No. 1 advertising campaign internationally in 2019 in the CASE Circle of Excellence awards.

“Linda Bonnin brings a wealth of strategic, collaborative, and visionary marketing skills to Rhodes,” says President-elect Collins. “She was selected from an exceptional pool of candidates to work with the talented marketing and communications team, and the college is fortunate to have secured her appointment.”

In addition to her senior leadership role at Abilene Christian University, Bonnin has worked as vice president for strategic communications at The University of Alabama, vice president for strategic communications at Louisiana State University, and vice president for communications, public relations, and marketing at The University of Memphis. Bonnin’s career at The University of Memphis spanned 17 years.

“Rhodes has an impressive reputation. I look forward to building on that with strong storytelling as we communicate its many successes and continue to convince the brightest students in the nation to make Rhodes their home,” says Bonnin. “I’m honored to be joining President Collins and her senior leadership team and becoming part of this great community of faculty, students, and staff.”

A native Memphian, Bonnin earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Harding University and a liberal arts degree from Harding Academy.
