Steve Cohen, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 9th district since 2007, recently shared his thoughts via social media on several significant topics. Cohen, who replaced Harold Ford Jr., is known for his active engagement on issues that matter to his constituents.

On April 21, Cohen expressed his admiration for Pope Francis following the Pope’s passing. Reflecting on the Pope’s speech to Congress in 2015, he noted his impact as a moral leader, particularly his emphasis on compassion, justice, and stewardship. Cohen mentioned, “Pope Francis was a moral leader who challenged the powerful and lifted up the poor. When he spoke to Congress in 2015, I was struck by his call for compassion, justice, and stewardship. His legacy will live on in that message—it’s needed now more than ever. May he rest in peace.”

Later that day, Cohen addressed his concerns regarding former President Donald Trump’s influence on the business community and markets. He criticized Trump’s actions, stating, “Why can’t Trump play more golf rather than run his mouth and scare the business community and continue to inflame uncertainty in markets and wreck 401c’s. STFU”

On April 22, Cohen highlighted environmental concerns and criticized the Republican Party’s approach to environmental regulations. During #EarthDay2025, he tweeted, “The GOP is letting polluters off the hook, gutting clean air & water rules, and illegally freezing funds that Congress approved to combat climate-driven disasters. On #EarthDay2025, remember: our planet can’t afford another 4 years of this. We have to fight for clean air, clean.” This tweet underscores his long-standing advocacy for environmental protection and sustainable policies.

Steve Cohen’s consistent legislative efforts align with his expressed views on these issues, reflecting his broader commitment to social and environmental justice.
