Steve Cohen, U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 9th district since 2007, has posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing recent political and legal developments involving former President Donald Trump and the current administration’s foreign policy stance.
On October 17, 2025, Cohen wrote, “The Bolton indictment came from an independent process. Trump’s cases against Comey and Letitia James? Built purely on revenge, not law—even his own prosecutors refused them. Now he’s parading his AG, FBI Director, and VP on camera to publicly threaten other critics. A day later, on October 18, 2025, Cohen shared a link without additional commentary: “https://t.co/Zubz4y8dEp”.
On October 19, 2025, Cohen commented on the president’s approach to international relations: “Sadly, our president doesn’t understand Putin. He also doesn’t appreciate the role of the United States in supporting democratic allies and opposing invading forces. Since World War II, we’ve been stedfast against illegal power grabs but no longer. We’re in bed w the bad guys. https://t.co/Ql1BNeaPnB”.
Cohen has represented Tennessee’s 9th District in Congress since replacing Harold Ford Jr. in 2007 and previously served two decades in the Tennessee Senate from 1983 to 2003. Born in Memphis in 1949 and currently residing there at age 73, Cohen is an alumnus of Vanderbilt University (BA) and holds a JD from the University of Memphis.
