Steve Cohen, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 9th district, shared several thoughts on social media regarding recent political events and local updates. Cohen, who replaced previous U.S. Congress member Harold Ford Jr. in 2007, has a history of service that includes representing his district and, prior to this, serving in the Tennessee Senate from 1983 to 2003.

On April 15, 2025, Cohen expressed his opinion on certain public figures, stating, “Trump, Bondi, and Miller lie very convincingly but even so they are still liars!” This comment highlights Cohen’s critical stance on former President Donald Trump and his associates.

Later the same day, he posted an update pertinent to residents and business owners in Memphis, Tennessee, informing them that “the IRS has just extended your federal tax filing and payment deadline to November 3, 2025, due to the April storms.” He mentioned that this extension applies to various tax obligations, including income tax returns and quarterly estimates.

In another tweet on April 15, 2025, Cohen criticized a decision made during the Trump administration, stating that “The Trump admin froze funding to upgrade senior housing—new windows & lighting, lower energy bills—because the program had “green” in the name.” Cohen described this move as “not governing” but an example of “ideological brain rot” that would negatively impact seniors to serve political interests. He noted his involvement in efforts to address this issue alongside 15 colleagues.

Steve Cohen, born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1949, has been a longstanding political figure, having graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1971 and earning a JD from the University of Memphis in 1973. He currently resides in Memphis.
