Steve Cohen, U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 9th district since 2007, has recently shared a series of statements on his social media account addressing issues ranging from legislative provisions to immigration enforcement and former President Donald Trump.
On November 19, 2025, Cohen commented on an ongoing legislative dispute, stating: “Thune fires back at House GOP effort to repeal senators’ $500,000 damages provision https://t.co/kZyYkUhX45 OUTRAGIOUS ! Better to give to Epstein victims!Truly victims and not greedy thieves.”
In another post dated November 20, 2025, Cohen addressed Secretary Noem and Attorney General Bondi regarding immigration enforcement in Memphis: “My message to Secretary Noem & AG Bondi: Remove ICE from Memphis. ICE isn’t addressing violent crime here, and reports show the people they’re sweeping up aren’t “the worst of the worst.” Immigrants aren’t driving crime in Memphis—they commit less than the general population,”
Later that same day, Cohen posted a brief statement about former President Trump: “Trump subterfuge. Nothing will come out because it would damn him”.
Cohen has been active in public service for decades. Before joining Congress in 2007—succeeding Harold Ford Jr.—he served in the Tennessee Senate from 1983 to 2003. Born in Memphis in 1949 and currently residing there, Cohen is an alumnus of Vanderbilt University (BA) and the University of Memphis (JD).
