Steve Cohen, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 9th district since 2007, has expressed his concerns regarding recent political actions through a series of tweets. His statements highlight issues surrounding federal contracts and international relations involving former President Donald Trump.

On March 7, 2025, Cohen criticized an alleged decision by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Trump’s administration to redirect a $2.4 billion contract. “Imagine a President tearing up a $2.4B contract just so he could hand the money to his top political financial supporter. Cronyism and politics at its worst.” He claimed that this action was aimed at benefiting Elon Musk directly with taxpayer dollars.

The following day, on March 8, 2025, Cohen accused Trump of compromising national interests in favor of Russia. “Trump is an aider and abettor to a war criminal,” he stated, questioning what leverage Russian President Vladimir Putin might have over Trump. He referenced past incidents where Trump allegedly destroyed stenographer’s notes from meetings with Russian officials.

Later that same day, Cohen succinctly summarized his view on Trump’s governance as corruptive in nature: “6 weeks of corruption under Donald Trump and Republicans.”
