The University of Memphis baseball team will travel to Murray, Kentucky for a midweek game against Murray State on April 27. The first pitch has been rescheduled to 1:05 p.m. because of expected weather in the area.

This matchup marks the 71st meeting between Memphis and Murray State, with Memphis holding a 44-26 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last met in 2022, when Memphis secured a narrow 5-4 win. In their previous trip to Murray in April 2018, the Tigers also won by a score of 10-6.

Memphis currently stands at sixth place in the American Conference with an overall record of 16-26 and an 8-10 mark in conference play. Over the weekend, they won one out of three games at UAB. The Tigers showed offensive promise but ultimately lost two close contests; they fell in extra innings during the opener after UAB hit back-to-back solo home runs but rebounded with strong hitting and aggressive baserunning in game two before being held to six hits and striking out thirteen times in the finale.

On the season, Memphis leads its conference with ninety-six stolen bases—ranking thirtieth nationally—with senior Rodriguez going thirty-four for thirty-eight on attempts and standing just six steals away from breaking the program’s single-season record. Defensively, Memphis ranks fifty-first nationally with a .976 fielding percentage and has committed only thirty-five errors so far this year.

Murray State enters as leaders of their conference following last year’s run to the College World Series. They recently took two out of three games at Southern Illinois, highlighted by Kainen Jorge’s grand slam and Nic Schutte’s complete game performance on Friday.

Looking ahead, right-handed pitcher RHP (1-2) will make his sixth start for Memphis while Murray State’s starter remains undetermined.
