The University of Memphis announced on March 9 that its softball team’s scheduled nonconference game against North Alabama, set for March 11, has been canceled because of expected inclement weather in the area.
This cancellation marks the fourth time this season that a Memphis softball game has not been played due to weather or being declared a no contest. The university said there are no plans to reschedule the matchup.
The Tigers, currently holding a record of 7-16, will next travel to face UTSA, which stands at 14-11. Memphis is seeking to recover after a challenging start to conference play.
Several players have contributed significantly at the plate for Memphis this season. One player leads with a .368 batting average and team-highs in hits (25), runs (17), triples (two), home runs (five), runs batted in (12), and an OPS of 1.182. Other key contributors include teammates with averages of .333, .316, and .265, all reaching double figures in RBIs alongside Davis.
UTSA recently swept Tulsa in its first American Conference series and will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before hosting Memphis. Makayla Madrid was named American Conference Player of the Week following her performance last weekend, which included hitting just under .500 for the week, delivering a grand slam against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and recording three doubles and two RBIs against Tulsa.
There are no further updates regarding makeup dates for canceled games at this time.
