The University of Memphis men’s basketball program announced on Apr. 28 the addition of guard Luke Almodovar to its roster for the 2026-27 season.
Almodovar, a 6-foot-3 guard from Noblesville, Indiana, joins Memphis after playing the previous season at Southeast Missouri State. He averaged 14.1 points per game and shot 42.4 percent from the field during his time with the Redhawks. His performance earned him First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors and a spot on the OVC All-Newcomer Team.
In his single season at Southeast Missouri State, Almodovar started in 23 games and helped lead his team to the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Before transferring there, he played two seasons at Saint Francis (Indiana), where he was one of the top scorers in NAIA basketball with an average of 19.1 points per game and shooting percentages of 51.6 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three-point range.
While at Saint Francis, Almodovar led his team in scoring both years and was named First Team All-Crossroads League as a sophomore after averaging 20 points per game and making 67 three-pointers that season. As a freshman, he made the Crossroads League All-Freshman Team by averaging nearly nineteen points per game in conference play.
Almodovar attended Noblesville High School where he was recognized as an Indiana All-Star and twice selected for all-conference honors in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play. He finished high school with over nine hundred career points and made more than one hundred thirty three-pointers.
He will join fellow transfers Brandin Cummings and Rihards Vavers as part of Memphis’ incoming class for next season.
