FOIA Request to Strayer University-Tennessee Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, Memphis Standard has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Strayer University-Tennessee. This request seeks detailed information about the university’s Chinese National students and related policies.

Our inquiry specifically requests documents or lists detailing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, including their respective departments of study. If this information is protected, we have asked for the total number of such students and a breakdown by department. Additionally, we seek information on scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

Furthermore, we have requested details about any scholarships granted by organizations affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council. In conjunction with this, we are interested in understanding the university’s policies and procedures for monitoring students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to safeguard intellectual property and other confidential information.

This request aligns with our mission as a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage and ensuring public institutions remain transparent. As members of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit committed to leveraging Freedom of Information laws for public benefit, we believe access to these records is crucial for informing the American electorate.

We anticipate that Strayer University-Tennessee will respond promptly to our request in accordance with the Tennessee Open Records Act.
