FOIA Request to Christian Brothers University Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in educational institutions, we at Memphis Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Christian Brothers University. Our request seeks detailed information concerning the enrollment and scholarship status of Chinese National students at the university.

The request specifically asks for documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, including their department of study. If this information is protected, we have requested the total number of such students and a breakdown by department. Additionally, we seek records detailing the scholarships received by these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

Furthermore, our inquiry extends to identifying recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council. We also aim to understand how the university monitors its students, particularly Chinese Nationals, to safeguard intellectual property and confidential information.

This request aligns with our mission as a media organization committed to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs. We believe that access to public records is crucial for holding public institutions accountable and maintaining transparency.

In partnership with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies—we continue our work in leveraging Freedom of Information laws to inform the American electorate.
